green breakfast juice

Breakfast, Juices

There’s no real shortage of post-Christmas weight loss attempts being made right now, and I am totally guilty of being thrown well into the mix after over indulging during the Christmas period. Lets face it, it’s inevitable, it’s going to happen and year after year, there’s nothing we can do to stop ourselves. This year I am progressing from consuming endless amounts of Camembert and cold meats and jumping head first into the deep end of the highly controversial Juice Fast/Detox/Cleanse (whatever you want to call it) swimming pool. After recently watching a handful of health-based documentaries praising the likes of these famous juice fasts, such as: Hungry for Change and Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, both of which are available on Netflix; I have decided to give it a try. – The only difference in my quest, is that I plan to scrap the traditional 7 day detox and embark on this journey for a month, thats right; a WHOLE MONTH of nothing but juice! And I plan to feature my progress and recipes as the month moves forwards.

First up; green breakfast juice.

I am currently on day 3/30 of the juice fast and I am yet to get bored, or oddly, even hungry! – Every now and then I seem to crave actually chewing something but I think I am gradually getting used to it. Making the juices are a lot of fun though, I am using the Phillips HR1863 juicer and it seems to be doing everything it says on the box quite nicely. Since starting the juice fast, each day when I wake up I squeeze a quarter of a lemon into a mug of hot water for a morning cleanse, followed by my breakfast juice. My recipe this morning consisted of a 50% fruit and 50% vegetable juice. The majority of your juices should be about 70% vegetables and 30% fruit, this is important as fruit contains a lot of sugar which will counteract your quest for weightloss, but in the instance of breakfast, it’s fine to add a little more fruit to gain that extra bit of energy as you wake up.

  1. How’s your fast going? It should be day 10? I am just starting my juice fast today and looking for good recipes to try. Thanks for this one. I am looking forward to reading more!

    1. Hey Liza! – Thank you for your comment 🙂 – The juice fast is going really well, currently lost 15lb’s and I am now on day 14! – Let me know how you get on, would be great to hear your results too! I’ll be posting some more juice recipes very soon! x

  2. I’m going to give this a try. What juicer do you recommend to get? Also, is your weight lost due to just drinking the green juice? (Of course exercising regularly also help, just thought I ask). Thanks for sharing.

  3. This is an amazing juice, I made it this morning ! I’m wondering if I can re-blog it on my website? Great Job!

  4. Hi, I just finished chemo for breast cancer and am very weak and run down and depressed on top of it and have also gained weight which seems so grossly unfair. I have the juicer, the spinach, the green apples, the grapes, the blueberries, the carrots and the cucumbers as well as the lemons. That takes care of a breakfast. What other recipes are you using? I keep reading that sugar feeds cancer so I’m a little nervous about the fruits. But on the other hand, we need fruits to stay healthy. Just confused and don’t know really what to put in my body.

  5. Hi I’m new here. I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I’m wondering if anyone has tasted Athletic Greens for their green drink? I’m discovering most either taste overpowering or cause my stomach to cramp.

  6. I am starting my first 30Day JucieFast June 2nd. Any ideas what the best juice plan is, day by day. I also am a Type 2 Diabetic. I am 59 years old, and weigh around 320. I have had 3 heart attacks(Mild), have a Severe Back Injury, and have really had knees
